Master of Secondary School Leadership programme through Victoria University

The Ngāti Whakaue Education Endowment Trust Board and Gattung Foundation have entered into a partnership to provide two study scholarships, to support Ngāti Whakaue secondary school leaders to undertake the Master of Secondary School Leadership programme offered through Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the partnership is in order to achieve their shared aims of:

  • Increasing access for secondary school leaders of Ngāti Whakaue descent to gain a university Masters degree in school leadership
  • Provide study scholarships for chosen candidates to undertake their Masters degree
  • To empower Māori secondary school leaders to attain school principalship.

SCHOLARSHIP:
The partnership will focus on people of Ngāti Whakaue descent in leadership positions in secondary schools in Aotearoa New Zealand, for two scholarships for the Master of Secondary School Leadership programme offered through Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. Our partnership will start with supporting 1 scholar each, commencing in 2025.

ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants must whakapapa to either an original owner of Pukeroa Oruawhata, or to one of the 6 Koromatua of Ngati Whakaue. Verification of whakapapa and subsequent approval by NWEETB is essential for consideration of a candidate.
